Everyone loves the color that summer flowers bring to their yard. Whether you plant in the ground, in containers, or in hanging baskets, it’s the color of flowers that brings the excitement. Who doesn’t love a day spent at the nursery discovering new plants or remembering old favorites? We spent the past couple of weekends visiting a few of our favorite nurseries and these are the plants that caught our eye.

Cara Mia Yellow Coneflower is a double coneflower and one of the brightest of the yellows. This bright lemon-yellow will definitely shine in your garden.  The high crown count means lots of flowering potential over a 5-month period.

If purple and blues are your thing, then you’ll definitely want to bring the vibrant color of Blue By You Salvia into your garden. Planted in large groups and you’ll have a sea of blue, almost purple across your landscape. In a container, you’ll have the drama of bold color that is both heat and frost tolerant, so you can expect a long bloom time.

Summer Crush Hydrangea is a compact bush that boasts an abundance of raspberry or purple colored blooms. Planted in a container, it will set your patio or porch on fire with it’s vibrant color.

If you’ve ever been to Sedona, you’re recognize all the colors of one of its brilliant sunsets in this amazing coleus variety. With warm shades of rusty orange, and hints of rose and burgundy, this one will give your garden a display as spectacular as a sunset.

Vincas are an all time favorite annual for most gardeners. With lots of color variety, they are always a welcome addition to the garden and can provide a nice splash of color when planted in groupings, or just the right amount of contrast when included in containers. This year more than new colors are being introduced. There’s a new shape to one of your old favorites. Soiree Kawaii Light Purple Vinca  and Soiree Kawaii Coral Vinca bring an interesting star shaped petal combo that’s sure to be a favorite.

It’s going to be a lovely weekend and the perfect time to finish up your spring planting to ensure your yard will be summer ready with lots of bright blooms. Annuals, perennials, flowering shrubs can all bring the vibrant color through their blooms.
